Steps to Add and Remove Genres

Adding Genres

  1. Go to the Songer website

  2. Choose "Generate" or "Custom Lyrics"

  3. In the "Type up to 5 genres or vibes" field, select genres from the list or start typing your own

Tip: To add more than one genre, press Enter or type a comma, then continue typing.

Removing Genres

In the "Type up to 5 genres or vibes" field, hit the Backspace key to remove the last genre, or click on a genre and manually uncheck it from the list.

Popular Genres Come First

The genre list isn't in alphabetical order, and that's intentional. The most popular genres appear first, so you can get started without scrolling through hundreds of options.

Searching Made Easy

With over 800 genres available, typing just a letter or two instantly narrows the list. Try entering "syn" and you'll see options like Synthwave and Synth Pop appear right away. The more you type, the more precise the results get. If a genre doesn't appear immediately, keep typing to refine the search.

Tip: Typing two or three letters usually works best.

Want a Genre We Don't Have? Add Your Own

Songer lets you create custom genres, too. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Songer website

  2. Choose "Generate" or "Custom Lyrics"

  3. In the "Type up to 5 genres or vibes" field, type your custom genre, like Christmas or Halloween

  4. Add a short prompt for context, for example, "generate a Christmas song," and click "Create Song"
