FAQ About Songer

Answers to the most common questions about how Songer works.

Updated this week

Is there a Songer community or forum?

Not yet. A space where creators can swap ideas, get feedback, and troubleshoot together is something we want to build. Stay tuned.

Are there any free trials?

No free trial, because you don't need one. You can start creating songs immediately and preview 50% of any track for free. Credits only come into play when you decide to unlock and download a song you actually want to keep.

Is there a Songer app?

Can other users see my songs?

No. Your songs are private by default. Nobody can view or access them unless you choose to share the link yourself. Your account, your songs, your call.

How are the voices in songs created?

Every voice you hear in Songer is fully AI-generated. The models were trained on thousands of vocal examples across a wide range of tones, styles, and genres, but they're not recordings of real people. The AI learns the characteristics of human singing: pitch, tone, emotion, phrasing, and generates a completely new vocal performance each time. No human singer is involved, and no real person's voice is being copied.

Can I upload and edit my own tracks?

Not currently. Songer generates new music from your prompts and lyrics. It isn't built to layer onto or edit existing audio files. That's something the team is actively exploring for future updates.

In the meantime, here are a few ways to work around it:

  • With the upgraded plan, you can generate instrumental-only tracks that make perfect backdrops for recording your own vocals

  • Use free tools like GarageBand (Mac/iOS), Audacity (Windows/Mac), or BandLab (web and mobile) to record, mix, and polish your music

  • Need to separate vocals or isolate parts of a track? lalal.ai handles stem splitting cleanly

Can I use my own voice?

Voice cloning and direct vocal recording aren't supported yet. All vocals are generated by the AI based on your lyrics and genre selection. It's something the team is considering for the future.

In the meantime, here are a few ways to blend your own vocals with Songer's output:

  • With the upgraded plan, you can generate instrumental-only tracks, ideal for recording your own vocals on top

  • Use free tools like GarageBand (Mac/iOS), Audacity (Windows/Mac), or BandLab (web and mobile) to record, layer, and polish your performance

  • Want to isolate or remove vocals from an existing track? lalal.ai handles stem separation cleanly

Are there character limits for prompts?

Yes. Here's the breakdown:

  • Generate mode (AI writes the lyrics): 1,000 characters

  • Custom Lyrics (your own lyrics): 2,500 characters

  • Instrumental mode (prompt only): 300 characters

If your lyrics run over the limit, split them into sections, generate each part separately, and combine them in any audio editing software afterward.

Is it possible to create song playlists?

Not yet. It's on the roadmap.

Do you offer phone support?

No phone support. Reach the team via email at [email protected] or the messenger on our website (for upgraded plans only).

How do I change the album artwork?

You can't change it inside Songer. The platform generates cover art automatically when your song is created. If you want custom artwork, download your track and upload your own JPG or PNG through your distribution platform. DistroKid and TuneCore both support this. For designing the artwork itself, Canva is free and gets the job done.
