Ownership of Songs Created with Songer

Ownership and usage rights depend on whether a song is locked or unlocked.

Lyrics

Lyrics written by the user belong to the user. Lyrics generated through Songer are licensed to the user once the song is unlocked.

Music

The melody, backing track, and vocals generated by Songer are licensed to the user once the song is unlocked.

Artwork

Artwork generated for a song is also licensed to the user once the song is unlocked.

Unlocked songs may be used for personal and commercial purposes, including distribution on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other services.

Using Custom Lyrics (Upgraded Plans)

The Custom Lyrics feature is available on upgraded plans only.

When users upload their own lyrics:

  • Full ownership of the lyrics remains with the user

  • The combined work (user lyrics + Songer-generated music) may be published, monetized, and distributed by the user

Songer does not claim ownership of user-provided lyrics or finished songs.

Licensing Terms

When a song is unlocked or downloaded, Songer grants the user a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use the generated content.

This license includes:

  • The right to publish and distribute music and artwork

  • The ability to monetize songs on streaming platforms

  • Permission to perform songs publicly

Songer does not currently provide legal letters or formal licensing documentation. Music licensing requirements vary by jurisdiction and use case. Users should consult a qualified legal professional for guidance specific to their situation.

Copyright

Copyright laws and registration processes differ by country.

While Songer grants usage rights to unlocked songs, copyright registration and legal protection should be handled according to local regulations and with appropriate legal advice.

Final Rights

Songer does not place restrictions on how unlocked songs and artwork are used.

Once unlocked, they may be shared, published, sold, monetized, and distributed without platform-imposed limitations.
